Sugarcane growers urge state government to declare health emergency

On the backdrop of increasing in number of the affected in the second wave of covid-19 across the State, Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association on Saturday urged the state government to declare a health emergency to control the spiking cases and increased death rate.

In a statement issued in Mysuru, Association President Shanthakumaran Kuruburu asked the state government to take control over the private hospitals as they are ignoring the government’s directives.

Stating that rural people are not being adequately treated and there was shortage of beds and oxygen and ventilators. The number of deaths without treatment is increasing.

He urged the government to take a decision to waive the loan repayment payment of the deceased patient in any hospital. Farmers should be protected by a minimum support price due to a decline in prices for farmers' agricultural products he pointed out.

Doctors, Nurses and paramedical staff personnel who put a lot of effort into treating Corona patients, hence,the state government should increase their salaries, he demanded.
