For the century-old Mysuru Zoo, which suffered a lot financially during the first wave of Covid-19 for its maintenance, the things have gone to worse in the second wave and the Management appealing for financial help from the government and animal lovers.

Speaking to newsmen, Karnataka Zoo Authority Chairman Mahadevaswamy on Saturday said that it is becoming very difficult.

He said that management is yet to recover from the financial loss of the first phase and now again Zoo is closed and the second phase has become severe.

We have also appealed to the government in this connection. In addition, animal lovers, association organizations, businessmen and the public need financial assistance. Set aside more than Rs two crore a month for feeding and handling animals. The Zoo is struggling and staff are not getting wages, no money for paying electricity, water and bills.

The last time the Minister in charge of the district helped a lot with funds. The maintenance of Zoos would be a problem if people did not cooperate. Taxpayers should come forward and cooperate. People's cooperation is needed like last time. Even though the process of adoption of animals is underway which needs more cooperation from the corporate houses and general public, he added.
