Tuesday, October 19, 2021

Titular king Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar along with Pramoda Devi Wodeyar took part in the Rathotsava of Goddess Chamundeshwari held here at Chamundi Hills on Tuesday morning.

Before the procession began, he offered special puja to the Goddess. His wife Trishika Kumari Wodeyar, Ramamathe Pramoda Devi Wodeyar and others were present. Chief priest Dr. Shashishekar Dikshit performed the rituals before the rathotsava. Activities began at the temple very early. Mantapotsava, Hasmavahana and Simhavahanotsava were held.

Every year, thousands of devotees would throng to Chamundi Hills during Chamundi Rathotsava but this year, due to the pandemic situation, it was a low-key affair. Entry to Chamundi Hills between 4 am and 10 am was barred. Even private vehicles were banned. There was tight police security for the rathotsava which saw only a handful of devotees and villagers taking part in it. Theppotsava will be held on Thursday (Oct 21) and there will be restrictions as well.
