As per a report brought out by Greenpeace India, ten cities including Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Mysuru are among 10 South Indian cities which recorded high levels of pollution. Greenpeace India has relied on the data of the Central Pollution Control Board from November 2020 to November 2021 in this report. The report said that the pollution levels in these cities is much higher than the standards set by the World Health Organization. The report suggests that the governments in the southern states and city administrations promote decentralised renewable energy solutions such as rooftop solar, creating integrated public transport, non-mechanised transport-friendly infrastructure and addressing other contributors like waste burning, construction sector, industrial emissions and biomass burning.
