Syed Issaq, whose library of 11,000 books in Mysuru which was gutted in fire few months back, has been selected for the annual GP Rajaratnam award given by Kannada book authority. The award consists of Rs 1 lakh cash. Syed Issaq, a daily laborer, was in news few months back when his free public library with more than 11,000 books were gutted in fire by miscreants. Later a huge fund raise campaign and support from government made him to relaunch the library. Donations were poured from all corners for him to restore the library. Syed Issaq started this library with his merger earning to promote the reading habits. He was keeping more than 11,000 books including copies of Quran, Bhagavat Geetha and Bible.
