Mysuru BJP MP Pratap Simha on Saturday said anybody who wants to wear hijab, burkha, skull cap or pyjamas can go to madrassa instead of School. The schools and colleges are for studies and securing a better job. He was referring to the 'hijab' row in the state while addressing a press conference. Referring to the hijab row, Simha said that the uniform rule that was invogue in 2017-18 is there now also and there is a strong reason behind having a common uniform in a school. Students will learn oneness when there is uniformity, he said. What is surprising is some students are adamant. There is a system in place which should be followed by all. If some students feel they can flout the rules, they are welcome to go elsewhere, Mysuru MP said. Hijab row surfaced in the state after few Muslim students insisted on attending classes wearing a 'hijab' at a Pre-University College in Udupi district. They were denied entry. The students have approached the High Court and the ruling BJP government has set up a high level committee to look into the issue.
